ZrN (density 7.09g/cm3) is a hard refractory compound with the appearance of yellow powder. It is a good candidate for high temperature structural material, super hard tool material and surface protective material due to its high decomposition temperature, chemical stability, corrosion resistance, wear resistance. Moreover, ZrN thin film has the apprearance of low brightness golden color which makes it a good alternate for TiN for coating. It has been widely used as coating material for architectural decoration, household appliances, watches, jewelry, cell phones.
